How Do I Prepare a Cake Pan Before Baking a Cake?

There are several different ways people will do this. Here is how I do mine. I will take a butter wrapper and make sure it has some butter or Crisco on it then grease the bottom and sides of the pan.

Then I flour the pans. I use a little flour and knock it around it till it is coated around. Try to make sure when you grease it you get in the edges. Then try and get the flour around the edges also. Some people like to just flour the bottom, I prefer this way.

Cake Pans

After you prepare a cake pan, take the flour and dump to the other pan or just add it to the cake recipe. I always do this. It doesn't effect the cake but you are only using a little bit of flour to do it.

I have heard other will take the cake mix itself and use to flour the pans. I have on rare occasions. Now that you have the cake pans greased and floured pour the prepared cake in. Now gently tap the cake mix on the table to remove air bubbles.

After you prepare a cake pan and add the cake, get rid of air bubble you can bake. I try to under bake a tiny bit. This makes for a moister cake. If it says 25 - 35 minutes check it after 20 minutes. Put a knife in the center of the cake if it comes out clean you are safe to take it out of the oven.

I hope this helps you. You should be familiar with how to prepare a cake pan. Now go bake a cake.
